Starting a new year is a sacred moment that allows us to take time to reflect on our lives and plan for the future with intention. With this New year’s meditation, we can give ourselves permission to set meaningful and attainable goals that will bring us joy and fulfillment. Meditation can help us to quiet our minds and connect with our higher selves in order to create this intentional plan for the upcoming months. Through meditation, we can be still and recognize the wonders of life within us and around us in order to appreciate what has been and envision what will be. When we start a new year, meditation allows us to pause and honor the grace of the moment while carrying forward only those thoughts that serve us most.
New Year Meditation
Welcome to this 10-minute New Year’s meditation. Before we begin, let us take a few moments to settle in and get comfortable. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and allow yourself to relax completely into the moment.
Now, bring your awareness to the present moment and notice the sounds around you, birds chirping, cars passing by, and the feel of your body, the weight of your feet on the ground, your clothing softly touching your skin.
Bring your focus back to your breath and allow it to deepen as you continue slowly inhaling and exhaling. Allow each breath to carry away any tension or stress that may be left in your body.
Next brings us into our meditation: reflecting on this past year and setting an intention for what we wish for ourselves going forward. Let’s take a few moments now to remember some of our accomplishments from this past year; successes large or small that have brought us joy or growth.
Perhaps you graduated from school, landed a new job, traveled somewhere new, or simply enjoyed some quality time with friends or family. As we reflect on these moments and how far we have come since last New Year’s Day, let us not forget all those we shared these experiences with. True success can never exist without appreciation for others who have helped along the way.
Finally, now that we’ve looked back at what has been accomplished in the year gone by; let us also look ahead towards what is now possible for ourselves moving forward into 2021. Using all of our past experiences as lessons learned for an even brighter future ahead, envision setting intentions related to relationships with others or goals related to career development or self-care practices anything that will bring more joy into our lives than before!
