Rest Meditation: 20 Minute Guided
Welcome to this 20 minute guided rest meditation. I’m so glad that you’ve taken the time today to take a break, relax and recharge. Take a few moments to settle into your resting space – whether it be lying down on your bed, in a comfortable chair or on the floor – and allow yourself to inhabit that space for just a few more moments.
Begin by taking several deep breaths – inhaling from your nose and exhaling from your mouth. With each breath, allow all of your tension to melt away into the surface beneath you, letting go of any stress or worry that may have been clinging to you throughout the day. You can also use this as an opportunity to actively scan through your body – one area at a time – paying special attention to any areas of stress or tension, allowing them to release with every exhale.
Once you feel settled and settled into stillness, begin noticing how the environment around you feels: Is there noise in the background? Are there any smells or scents? Is there anything visually interesting around you that catches your attention? Spend some time taking it all in without judgement before moving onto closing your eyes.
Now that your environment has been taken in, bring attention back to yourself and close your eyes if they haven’t already been closed. Notice how this affects all of the senses: does it become quieter? Darker? Does anything else happen as soon as those eyelids are shut tight?
Continue to notice these sensations and any others without placing judgment on them; simply observe with curiosity like an outside observer witnessing what happens within this moment.
As you move through this meditation, remember that no two moments are alike: everything is constantly shifting and changing but remain aware enough of what is happening around you so that you don’t get lost in thought or in dreaming too far away. Remain conscious of every sensation within this current moment with lightheartedness rather than attachment or expectation; simply be here now and accept whatever arises with easeful awareness.
Now it’s time to rest even deeper into stillness by bringing total awareness within yourself – beyond the physical sensations already present within the body but also include feelings, emotions and mental states as well. Allow yourself sink deeper into each individual element – whether it’s feeling relaxed or tired, peaceful or anxious – simply acknowledging them without judgment before allowing them all gently drift away like clouds rolling across an open sky until nothing remains but infinite emptiness. A space full of potential for whatever new experience might arise at any given moment yet completely content just as it is right now existing without needing anything else from outside itself; a state of pure being-ness filled with peace, contentment, love and joy accessible at anytime we choose. This space is always within us so savor these moments here now while we practice visiting often throughout our days!
As our journey comes slowly coming closer towards its end shift back outwards towards awareness again becoming aware of sounds once again while thanking yourself for taking some well deserved time out for yourself today! To wrap up begin scanning through various parts of your body from head toes slowly waking up the body gently until eventually opening up those eyes for one last look around before slowly getting up ready for whatever comes next!
